On 24th August, an assessment day was held at the Rwankuba Akagare (community hall) for women interested in forming the first Mustard Seed Institute women’s handicraft group. The group of twenty-one women presented their handmade products to a visiting handcraft expert from Kigali, who assessed their strengths and weaknesses.
The inspector was very impressed with the women’s skills in weaving traditional baskets and home decorations. In late September a three-month training program will be launched for the women, to improve their skills and learn new skills and innovations in the handicraft sector.
The women held an election to form a management committee for the group.
